Salut!

Am avut parte ieri de o seara excelenta alaturi de minunatul public din Club A. Multumim organizatorilor si tuturor celor prezenti, mai ales ca spre surprinderea noastra la doar al treilea concert lumea ne cunostea si ne cerea piesele! Speram ca si publicul a fost la fel de multumit de ceea ce a vazut si auzit, precum si de cadourile pe care le-am impartit (ca de fiecare data).

Sa ne vedem cu bine la urmatoarele concerte ce se anunta la fel de incendiare: marti in Underworld si pe 4 martie din nou in Club A, cand vom lansa albumul de debut!

Se pare că acest oraş este singurul unde intr-adevăr se simte că se mişcă ceva. Peste 230 (194 plătitori) de amatori de metale au ţinut să fie prezenţi in Club A, la primul show al nemţilor din capitala Romaniei.
L.O.S.T., formaţia care a avut sarcina să deschidă recitalul germanilor, s-a achitat foarte bine de această sarcină. Un sound foarte bun, net superior faţă de inregistrarea audio. Piesele la care publicul a reacţionat cel mai bine au fost: “Last breathâ€Â

L.O.S.T. este o trupa noua cu "nume vechi", componentii ei activand de peste 10 ani pe scena metal underground romaneasca, dar voi evita sa reiau numele trupelor in care au activat cei patru, pentru a evita confuziile de genul L.O.S.T, fostii X. Si asta pentru ca trupa L.O.S.T, adica Vlad Busca (bass/vocal), BB Hanneman (guitar/vocal), Dragos Halmagi (keys) si George Angel Tudor(tobe), are deja, dupa numai cateva luni de activitate,í‚ o individualitate, a sustinut deja destule concerte si, fapt mai rar pe piata noastra, a lansat deja un produs de debut oficial, mini-CD-ul Last Breath, editat de Meta4 Productions. Albumul contine 5 piese old-school doom-death, sunetul este satisfacator si lay-out-ul este excelent. I am happy that i receive something from a country that barely receives anything. Imagine that the last band from Romania was Magica and now LOST. With their latest album the band wants to give us their opinion of the death metal. "Last Breath" is the title of their album and it was released last May through Meta4 Productions. So in these five tracks the band gives us their project for the death metal but with the addition of the keyboards we have another atmosphere through the madness of death metal. For sure their compositions are well worked with interesting ideas and you can see that these guys want to give the best to the listeners. If they had a better production then their music will be more easy to listen to it but sometimes you should pay more attention in order to feel the whole things that every band want to offer through their album. I am curious how they will sound in their next step and i wish i will have the opportunity to hear their new album when it will be ready. Until now lets hear again my favorite track "Last Breath" which is also the title track too.

It’s easy to see why L.O.S.T. got signed. They are simply one of the best melo-death acts of lately, if just a little generic. I’ve only reached the mp3s of this single but I wait, they’ve got the potential to get big. Their music (what I gather from these two tracks at least) is slow, with guitars not too crunchy (the crunch level would compare to that of a normally fried meatball) and drums seeming not quite double-bass. The drum sound is just a little too narrow for that.

The keyboards are interesting though; they’re as they used to be in the Gothenburg scene, a quiet layer upon the rest, caressing the sonic waves without taking the spotlight away from the guitars. L.O.S.T. made them somewhat quieter though. The bass is mediocre and so are the vocals. For all we know though, mixing have often made growls sounding this way, a little like a rabbit that’s swallowed some chalks, been placed in a sock which’s sweat has dried of, starting to snarl and then get its higher tones removed by the mixing engineer. Can’t say that kind vocalists usually make it to my favourite shelf.

But still, not too original, not too good isn’t too bad for a rather small and isolated underground scene. The guitarist knows his stuff, and if the band’s just able to find their own sound and vary the speed then this single will be a release easy to forget.

Rehashing Lepaca Kliffoth - 75%

When I first heard this EP I was strongly and positively surprised. The second song, Clipa really opened my eyes for what this band reminded me of. When listening to the single, it never struck me that L.O.S.T. must have been listening a lot to early Therion. Much of their material sound like Lepaca Kliffoth and like what Symphony Masses would’ve sounded like without its symphonic parts and some of the stranger pieces.

Now, this does express itself through rather slow, minimalistic, heavy song backbones. The guitars sting into it all every now and then. We have melody, carefully laden by the keyboardist. There are breakdowns, the way the compositions circle. There are undertones from Therion all around it. The riffs and bass lines, the way they keep them hanging, have a Therion feel too.

It wouldn’t be fair to call this a total Therion-rip-off though, as L.O.S.T. have a very different guitar tone. It is stinging and pretty constant. Also L.O.S.T. never leaves the slow-tempo land, which they’ve mastered well enough. Unfortunately, I don’t think it’ll work for an entire album without more variation.

There’s one more thing that doesn’t really work: the vocals. I can live with the main vocalist, although he sounds rather mediocre. The vocalist that tries singing on Dreams in Black though, he shouldn’t do vocals anymore. I’m glad that the mix removes a little of his efforts. It seems like if he hadn’t any voice to start with, and it cracks deep into the core.

Sounding a bit like Therion wins my vote, and sounding this much like Therion while retaining some originality gets more of it, I suppose. I like this, but I think the repertoire must be broadened; some speed must be let in if they should go for a full-length in the future. Also, I’d be pleased to hear a vocalist with more range next time.
