SINGAPORE, Aug 20 Reuters) - Gold rose in Asia on Friday and was preparing to test a key resistance of $409 as rocketing oil prices revived interest in the yellow metal as an inflation hedge.

Spot gold was at $407.75/408.50 an ounce, a one-month high hit on Thursday, compared with $406.65/407.40 last quoted in New York.

Platinum fell from grace, losing around $16 because of heavy selling in Tokyo futures . Spot platinum was quoted at $845/850 an ounce by 0403 GMT, versus $861/866 last quoted in New York.

Silver was at $6.81/6.83 an ounce, up from $6.79/6.82 last quoted in New York, where it had touched a four-month high at $6.90 an ounce.

Palladium was at $220/225 an ounce, versus $218/224 in New York.
