Leaves' Eyes este noua formatie a fostei soliste din celebrul grup Theatre of Tragedy, la care s-a alaturat Alex Krull (sotul ei), precum si alti membrii ai formatiei Atrocity.
Albumul de debut, "Lovelorn", este povestea unui tanar care-si pierde iubita in valurile marii, singura cale de a comunica cu ea fiind prin intermediul unei sirene. Impresioneaza voce lui Liv Kristine, care este in prim-plan, in contrast, in unele melodii, cu vocea lui Alex Krull, simplitatea versurilor care reusesc sa transmita o atmosfera de basm si melancolie.

Nerecomandat: persoanelor mult prea ancorate in realitate.

01. Norwegian Lovesong - "I grew up by the sea/I played under the sun/Come to me come into my dreams/This is my light of life" - un inceput lin, o melodie care te introduce atmosfera unui tinut nordic inconjurat de mari; degaja o nota de optimism. - 8.50/10
02. Tale Of The Sea Maid - un sound mai puternic, sustinut de chitari - mi s-a parut ca aduce oarecum ca stil cu Within Temptation. "Fantasies in my head/I drift away to all seas/Deep underneath the ocean/I heard the tale of the sea maid" - 8.50/10
03.Ocean's Way - "The way of the ocean/Touch my heart like fire..." - o melodie care-mi aminteste surprinzator de mult, ca stil si ca voce, de Enya... o Enya pe un fundal heavy,cu o voce angelica, reliefata de vocea joasa a lui Alex Krull: "You're alive and you're wild/When you're nearer to me" - 8.50/10
04.Lovelorn - "You're my healer/I am lovelorn/In the cool breeze I hear your sweet voice/I'm your treasure/I am forlorn/In the rain I feel your warm tears". O melodie deosebit de armonioasa, care parca inglobeaza cantecul valurilor, plina de sensibilitate si romantism, dulce... gothic lullaby - 10/10
05.The Dream - melodia puncteaza o noua schimbare de stil, incepe cu voci de cor intr-un stil gregorian, si se incheie, din nou, cu vocea lui Alex Krull, a carei apartie mi se pare foarte inspirata in aceasta melodie: "You're my queen/You're my angel/You're the love I breathe to live/You're my star/You're my leading light/You're the beauty I see at night" - 9.50/10
06.Secret - Liv Kristine demonstreaza complet calitatile vocale, trecand cu usurinta de la note mai joase la pasaje cristaline; povestea isi urmeaza cursul: "Can you free me/From these unsafe grounds/Secret tell me where did she drown" - 9/10
07.For Amelie - o balada superba,melancolica, pe note de pian: "Why don't you love me?/Enough to stay with me/Now tell me truly/Was it there in your heart too?/All that I'm left with/Is a dream of me and you" - 10/10
08.Temptation - "In my head/I hear your voice/Is this the voice of my master" - o melodie mai heavy, un inceput cu duet de voci ce aminteste oarecum de vechile melodii Theatre of Tragedy, o nota mai sumbra fata de ansamblu. - 9/10
09.Into Your Light - "I've heard your song/And I've seen the light/In your eyes and it/Took me so long to see/Straight through the night/And through you" - deosebit de ritmata, interesante interventiile de chitara - 8,50/10
10.Return To Life - "I rise and leave the dream behind/I'm returning to life/Returning to life/By the sound of your voice/And the love that you give" - imi aduce aminte de melodia "The Scroll of Stone" de la Magica ... un ton optimist si alert cu care povestea se incheie fericit. 8,50/10

"Vinland Saga" descrie o calatorie vikingilor de acum 1000 de ani, cand un grup de corabii care se indrepta spre Groenlanda pentru a-l vizita pe tatal lui Eric cel Rosu (Eirik the Red), din cauza furtunilor, nu reuseste sa acosteze in Groenlanda shi ajunge in America. Vinland sau Wineland se afla in America de Nord, fiind descoperita de Leif Eiriksson in secolul al XI-lea. In acest album, Leaves Eyes se inspira din istoria si mitologia Norvegiei, tara natala a lui Liv Kristine. Albumul este povestea calatoriei vikingilor pe mare, si a unei femei care asteapta intoarcerea sotului ei din Vinland, stand pe coasta de vest a Norvegiei.

01. Vinland Saga - intro, jumatate in engleza, jumatate in finlandeza (banui ): "1000 years ago a Viking ship /Left Norway in the spring / The new world they found they called Vinland / The Land of Wine" - 8.5/10
02. Farewell Proud Men - "Look above into the misty air / I hear the waves reminding me of fear / I’m not alone but still i am confused / Will you return and will your dreams come true?". Un inceput interesant, disting parca sunet de tobe... Liv Kristine spunea intr-un interviu ca melodia aceasta s-a dorit a fi un tribut adus curajului de care au dat dovada vikingii. Totusi, desi am vazut ca e apreciata de unele recenzii, imbinarea dintre vocea ei si sound nu mi s-a parut cea mai reusita - 8/10
03. Elegy - "Teardrop on a fragile eyelash / She's looking like a dream / Hoping for some understanding / And answer or at least / A calming word a single sentence / To restore her heart / Aching since the day I left her / Crossing lonely seas". Pe langa faptul ca e superba (cam pe acelasi stil cu cele de pe "Lovelorn"), melodia are un videoclip interesant - Liv Kristine langa un copac cu frunze ingalbenite, care au ochi ce clipesc, urmareste drumul corabiei amenintate de furtuna intr-o carte. Am uitat ceva - de pe celalalt album, melodia "Into Your Light" are de asemenea videoclip, dar nu l-am gasit inca.- 9.5/10
04. Solemn Sea - "The music of your heartbeat brightens me / turn my fears into hope / Oceans of blue" Un inceput care anunta o balada, de asemenea jumatate de versuri in norvegiana si in plus aparitia vocala a lui Alex Krull - 9/10
05. Leaves' Eyes - "Summer goes /Winter comes /Leaves fall on frozen grounds /True love lasts forever /I imagine you in a thousand glimpses /Moonlight you keep me safe at night /And I know you’re here if I fall" Printre preferintele personale, optimism, voce limpede si chitara superba - 10/10
06. The Thorn - "I hope that he will be safe /Hopefully return in April /I’ve heard the winds speak of a fight /And it hit my heart like a thorn" Liv Kristine si Alex Krull se completeaza vocal intr-un mod deosebit de inspirat... metal beauty-and-the-beast - 9/10
07. Misseri (Turn Green Meadows into Grey) - "Morning awakes /Night is drifting away /Winter’s approaching /Time to go or stay" Frumos sustinuta de keyboard... 8.5/10
08. Amhrán (Song of the Winds) - Melodie instrumentala, inspre stilul traditional nordic - 9/10
09. New Found Land - "We are the founders of the new world /Here are the mountains and here are the fjords /Hundreds of miles of the course we are lost /These guys return as we witness the shore" Foarte ritmata si energica - 8.5/10
10. Mourning Tree - "Tell him through the winds I am here /Whisper through the breeze not to fear /Taste it by the rain what I feel when you hold me /Reach out for the winds that we share /Then you will feel I am near /Taste it by the snow, I am here where you left me /I told to the mourning tree" "The mourning tree" este copacul prin intermediul caruia femeia ii transmite iubitului aflat departe cat de mult ii lipseste... Melodic apropiata de "Leaves' Eyes", si foarte melancolica - 9.5/10
11. Twilight Sun - "Spring is calling /Time to leave /The winds have told me /She’s waiting for me" O revenire la linia generala a albumului, care apropie povestea de sfarsit: "For you /I will return..." - 8.5/10
12. Ankomst - Balada in stil si limba norvegiana, cu putine versuri, melancolica. Se aude sunetul valurilor la inceput si sfarsit. Nu cunosc traducerea in engleza, dar sper ca finalul povestii a fost unul fericit - 9.5/10

In 2003, chitaristul Mark Jansen paraseste formatia After Forever si se dedica celuilalt proiect muzical al sau, formatia Sahara Dust. Dupa ce inregistreaza un demo numit "Cry for the Moon", formatia o coopteaza pe tanara mezzosoprana Simone Simons, isi schimba denumirea in Epica (tribut adus formatiei Kamelot, una din preferatele lui Mark, dar si cuvant ce semnifica un loc din univers in care gasim toate raspunsurile la intrebarile cruciale), si inregistreaza primul album, "The Phantom Agony", care cuprinde si cele doua melodii de pe demo ("Cry for the Moon" si "Illusive Consensus"), plus inca sapte noi. La albumul de debut a colaborat o orchestra alcatuita din opt persoane si cu un cor care are interventii in latina pe parcursul unor melodii. Un amestec muzical indraznet, teme mai putin obisnuite genului gothic: religie, filozofie, politica, dragoste. Potrivit cu starile mele de criza spirituala...

01. Adyta "The Neverending Embrace" - un intro scurt intr-o atmosfera de neliniste - coruri, versuri complet in latina. - 8/10
02. Sensorium - trecere rapida la un tempo alert. O melodie despre destin, viitor predeterminat, hazard, calatoria catre cunoastere. Impresionanta interventia lui Mark: "I’m not afraid to die/I’m afraid to be alive/without being aware of it" - 8/10
03. Cry for the Moon "The Embrace That Smothers - Part IV" - o melodie ale carei versuri Mark le-a scris intr-un moment in care opinia publica dezbatea cazul unui preot care abuza de copii ("Morbid abuse of power in the garden of eden/Where the apple gets a youthful face"). Rezultatul, un hit. Bitter: "Follow your common sense /You cannot hide yourself /behind a fairytale forever and ever" - 9/10
04. Feint - "Every beat of your heart tore the lies all apart /Made foundations quiver /Every wave in the lake caused the porcelain to break /And I shiver... " O balada extrem de sensibila si fragila. Variantei la pian i-as fi dat 100/10, e extraordinar de impresionant sa ascult vocea clara, ampla a lui Simone, sustinuta doar de clape de pian. - 9.5/10
05. Illusive Consensus - versuri scrise de Simone, despre o dragoste care moare: "I secretly longed for something /which had never existed/Devoted to a body without a soul". - 8.5/10
06. Facade of Reality "The Embrace That Smothers - Part V" - o melodie in memoria victimelor atentatului de la 11 septembrie (de altfel, pe fundal, pe la jumatate, se aude un fragment din discursul lui Toni Blair, si soptit: "It doesn’t matter where we die /It doesn’t matter that you cry"). O melodie care denunta fanatismul religios: "People created religious inventions /To give their lives a glimmer of hope /And to ease their fear of dying /And people created religious intentions /Only to feel superior and to have a license to kill", cu Mark din nou extraordinar: "Our desire to die is stronger /Than all your desire for life". Dureaza mai mult de 8 min si are nenumarate schimbari de ritm... am vazut si o inregistrare cu Epica live, cantand-o, absolut superb. - 9.5/10
07. Run for a Fall - scrisa de Mark, despre plecarea lui de la After Forever. "Do not use the past as an alibi /For all of your deficiencies always standing by /Face your negligence, do not fool yourself /Shortcomings will soon appear /For weakness shows itself ". Balada. - 8/10
08. Seif Al Din "The Embrace That Smothers - Part VI" - sound cu influente arabe; cantata in mare parte de Mark. - 8.5/10
09. The Phantom Agony - melodia de pe comentarii la jurnale, daca un pisic blu isi aminteste "I can’t see you, I can’t hear you /Do you still exist? /I can’t feel you, I can’t touch you, /Do you exist? /The Phantom Agony /I can’t taste you, I can’t think of you, /Do we exist at all?" O melodie despre vise. Din nou... "What’s the point of life /And what’s the meaning if we all die in the end? /Does it make sense to learn or do we forget everything?" - 8.5/10

Un album pe care cu greu il pot lasa uitarii, pentru ca mi-a fost facut cadou de o persoana draga, si a fost fundal muzical pentru discutii interesante . Melodii inspirate in parte din cultura Mayasha, cealalta parte compuse de Simone. Plusuri fata de albumul de debut: Simone mai stapana pe vocea ei, care e mai putin "acoperita" de cor sau de instrumente, tematica mi se pare mai unitara, versurile mai profunde.

01. Huban K'u "A new Age Dawns - prologue" - un intro care te proiecteaza intr-un peisaj panoramic. Pe site scrie ca e "cinematic", mie imi inspira o priveliste de sus, din zbor. Ca si data trecuta, exclusiv in latina. Hunab K’u inseamna originea universului in limba Mayasha. - 8.5/10
02. Dance of Fate - "What is this pace, the type of dance? /I cannot tell which steps I have to take /I'd like to leave, just run away /My feet are tangled up //So hard to face the pace of the clock /What do you think; will it ever stop? /So will I fall and not get up? /I take it all in stride" . Un dans, Simone, drums, Simone, drums, apoi "Novas portas pandamus, et post nos occudamus" ("we should open new doors and close the ones that we’ve left behind"). - 9.5/10
03. The Last Crusade "A new Age Dawns - part I" - un debut cu adevarat intunecat. "You can't force yourself upon me /And you never will /You can't keep digging in /Desecrated graves /No more innocence left to spill". O melodie despre agonia crestinismului, si necesitatea unei noi spiritualitati. - 9/10
04. Solitary Ground - o balada extrem de melancolic-amaruie. "I know that in me there still a place that fulfils me /a sancity here, that I call home and run to /when winter descends /If I try can I find solid ground /Or am I just wasting time?". Despre sentimente de instrainare, de inadaptare, despre a nu-ti gasi locul... - 9.5/10
05. Blank Infinity - un inceput soft de pian, pentru o melodie cu un tempo alert. "High in the sky, all of the clouds are passing by /Wait for the storm, wait for the rain /Wait for the tears to fall down me" - 8.5/10
06. Force of the Shore - muzical apropiata de "Seif Al Din". O melodie despre aparente: "Appearance is deceptive /So perfect in disguise/There’s more than what you see" - 8.5/10
07. Quietus - superba. Un intro medieval, Simone cu o voce mai impresionanta si mai clara decat oriunde. Fallen. "See, hear the torture inside /Devouring what was left of my pride /You thought it’s not going to happen to you /Thought you could hide". Quietus, care pe site scrie ca inseamna coup de grace. - 10/10
08. Mother of Light "A new Age Daws - part II" - "It always put me on the edge /To think of all the spoilt lives /Today I’m one step further /Not sure if I’ve survived myself ". Duet Simone - Mark. O melodie pe Mark o compusese de acum 5 ani. - 8.5/10
09. Trois vierges - din nou o balada superba, Simone canta cu Roy Khan, de la Kamelot. "Memory, fading out /Its presence still lingers in my mind /Listen to your inner voice /There's no escape, there's no other choice". - 10/10
10. Another Me "In Lack'ech" - "Whatever happens tomorrow, and whatever you do /Just keep in mind that the source and end is you". Un alt concept Mayash, despre modul in care oamenii sunt interconectati, despre rezultatul actiunilor asupra altora, care in final se rasfrange tot asupra noastra. - 8.5/10
11. Consign to Oblivion "A new Age Dawns - part III" - un inceput cu adevarat dark, cu sunete de vioara. "How can we let this happen and /Just keep our eyes closed ‘till the end /When we will stand in front of heaven’s gate /It will be too late". - 8.5/10

"S-au dus si ashtia... ", s-a spus dupa aparitia acestui album, de catre fanii albumului anterior, "Wolfheart" . Foarte frumos "Wolfheart", imi comunica urechiusele conectate la casti si atente, dar cu "Irreligious" ideile mele dark au capatat contururi pe care cu greu mi le-as fi putut imagina... clar, lucrat, cu un vocalist de exceptie, te introduce intr-o atmosfera sumbra si apasatoare. In mod sigur nu pot vorbi eu despre el suficient fata de ce-mi inspira. In rest... pacat, mare pacat ca n-am ajuns la concertul din Timisoara .

01.Perverse...Almost Religious - un intro dark, apasator, coruri si keyboards, ne arunca in bratele opiului - 9/10
02.Opium - "Opium, desire or will?/Inspiration bound from an elegant seed/Subversion, through smoke I foresee/Erotic motions of lesser gods in ectasy". Un single care a iscat controverse... videoclipul a fost banat pe MTV. Un videoclip foarte interesant de altfel, imagini dintr-un local avangardist-decadent alterneaza cu imagini ale halucinatiilor produse de drog. La sfarsit, pasajul in portugheza apartine poetului Fernando Pessoa (traducere in engleza: "Therefore I take opium. It is a medicine./I am a convalescent of the Moment./I live in the groundfloor of Thought / and seeing life goes by grows me tedious.") - 10/10
03.Awake - "Awake... for all is dying, even the dead". Un inceput de chitara, apoi un ritm lent, si pe parcursul intregii melodii... awake - 9/10
04.For A Taste Of Eternity - "Undesired, I fell into your being/Releasing shapes inside of you/Only seen in your wildest dreams/I am the impossibility/of your long-kept chastily/I am your offence and you can't wait/to have me inside of you and taste.../Eternity". O melodie despre vreun sburator demonic (nu ma refeream, desigur, la love2 ) - 9/10
05.Ruin & Misery - "And as we lay, we kissed/Fingers wet with poison/Thinking to each one/There is beauty in death" Tragic masterpiece... - 9/10
06.A Personal Gift - O soapta: "Forever young in a ground so cold/The splendor of your death still fresh to behold". Si apoi un tipat ascutit, ca sa simti mai bine in atmosfera Depresiv si agresiv. - 9/10
07.Subversion - "Perverse: the religion of pain/In each detail a world,/I know you hide something..." Un scurt pasaj muzical ce se termina cu un sunet de clopot - 8.5/10
08.Raven Claws - De departe preferata mea. Tipete de corbi, vocea deosebita a lui Brigit Zacher... si o intreaga poveste intunecata se dezlantuie. "The flavour of poison and moon/Still maturing on her blood/She is not your occasional affair, no!/But eternal love, drop by drop..." - 10/10
08.Mephisto - "I can teach you wonders if you give me your soul/Marvels and wild dreams can be yours/I can teach you how iron turns to gold/And how life can grow so old" O tema clasica, dar minunat surprinsa. Fernando are o voce de-a dreptu mefistofelica. - 9/10
09.Herr Spiegelmann - Un debut melodic de carnaval (nu ca m-ar speria clownii... ). O melodie ce contine un pasaj din "Parfumul" de Suskind: "Everyone considered the man in the blue jacket/as the most beautiful human being they have ever seen/nuns saw on him the Messiah in flesh;/Satan's adorers the lustrous Prince of Darkness;/philosophers the Supreme Being;/young females an enchanted prince;/Men an ideal reflection of themselves." Asta in plus pe langa repetitia obsesiva: "Look Me in the eyes and drown..." - 9.5/10
10.Full Moon Madness - In incheiere, sunete ale noptii sfasiate de urlete de lupi: "They awake for flesh/Choose pain as a path/Refuse a light/To blind you and me//Full Moon Madness,/We are as one and congregate/Full Moon Madness/We rise again to procreate". - 9/10

WITHIN TEMPTATION - "Enter" (1997) - 8,1/10

Desi formatia Within Temptation este arhicunoscuta, albumul de debut este oarecum o surpriza fata de cele care urmeaza; atmosfera este mai intunecata, solourile de chitara mai heavy, vocea lui Robert Westerholt, mult mai prezenta - growling-uri in duet cu vocalizele cristaline ale lui Sharon. Chiar daca poate nu atinge claritatea si frumusetea de pe "Mother Earth", care mie mi se pare un varf pe care poate le va fi dificil sa-l depaseasca, "Enter" este cu siguranta un album care merita ascultat.

02.Enter - "The gates of time have opened /Now, its chains are broken /An ancient force unleashed again /As I enter the portal I feel the enchantment /It takes me away, away from here" - Intrii, scartzaie usha suparator, apoi te intampina o voce demonica care-ti ureaza bun venit - 8.5/10
03.Pearls of Light - "I got lost in the search for enlightment /The blue rain /Covered my roots /and I forgot where I came from" O balada foarte frumoasa, imi plac ploile albastre, simfoniile si vocalizele - 8.5/10
04.Deep Within - "Is there a place deep within /A place where you hide your darkest sins /There's a strange kind of ambiance, /it's surrounding you /As a songstress you lure me, /towards the truth" - foarte impresionanta interventia vocala masculina, si atmosfera intunecata - 8/10
05.Gatekeeper - "The shadows of the night, /are unleashed again /Where their greed begins, the end is near /A morbid hunger for blood, /lies in their cold black eyes /They've come to take our lifes away" - Un inceput cinematic, copirait recenzii Epica, urmat de pasaje mai heavy - 8/10
06.Grace - "Fallen from grace, help me rise again /Fallen from grace, help me through" - Se remarca mai mult prin chitara, versurile mi s-au parut... nimic deosebit - 7.5/10

In 1990, Tillo Wolf a atras atentia din undergroundul unde se afla cu demo-ul sau, "Clamor". In 94, a lansat primu LP de succes, "Angst", tot in acelasi an cooptand-o pe Anne Nurmi, care facea parte din trupa finlandeza Two Withces, vocal + clape. Lacrimosa a avut colaborari cu orchestra simfonica din Londra, impunandu-se printr-un stil ce imbina gothicul cu clasicul.

04. Nachtschatten - lent, sfasietor de melancolic, si viori - 8.5/10

Virgin Black: An anomalous harmony between the juxtapositions of purity and humanity’s darkness. O autocaracterizare in termeni cam bombastici ai unei trupe din Australia. Am procedat aproximativ lutzeshte, asa cum uneori mai aleg cate o carte dupa coperta sau dupa titlu - am vazut numele trupetzilor din intamplare si mi-a atras atentia. E si asta o strategie . Rezultatul nu e intotdeauna prost, iar de data asta pot spune ca a fost multumitor. "Elegant... and dying" este al treilea album, dupa "Trance", "Sombre Romantic", si desigur un demo de prin 1995 care i-a propulsat in centrul atentiei.

01 Adorned In Ashes - eterna melodie de introducere, cu coruri si care sugereaza o atmosfera sumbra, idee care nu-mi displace in general, dar de data asta parca corul acela ma irita. Plus ca se prelungeste cam prea mult. Instrumentala - adica intervine o voce pe la mijloc, dar nu disting daca e latina sau ce doreste. Ce e mai interesant e partea cu pianul de la sfarsit. - 7.5/10
02 Velvet Tongue - "Look at us dying/A field of human crucifixes, weathered and fading/Heaven hears nothing as the priests are wailing/And they're crushing our souls" Vocalul de la inceput are o voce cu un timbru deosebit, clara, spre sfarsit interventiile sunt cam neinspirate, melodic e reusita, tema - decaderea religiei. - 8/10
03 And the Kiss of God's Mouth (Part 1) - Instrumentala - 7.5/10
04 And the Kiss of God's Mouth (Part 2) - "I saw a tattered cloak, drawn about the face/A gesture of farewell, to the kiss of God's mouth/Kiss the image in a stranger's casket" Nice soptita . Nu ca ar conta muzicalmente, dar mania asta cu part 1, 2 si 3 la o melodie e putin agasanta la daunlod . Nu-mi dau seama care dintre cei trei, dar e cineva care ar trebui sa se lase de vocalizat ca incurca restu. - 8/10
05 Renaissance - "And I looked to the air/But the breeze was not cold/I sought for your hand/To hold unto me" Nimic renascentist, mai degraba cu multe ups and downs. Sunt aproape de a atinge o claritate dar o ocolesc in ultimul moment . - 7/10
06 The Everlasting - "Breathe/A faceless one roams for my soul/The air is dense behind me/It follows, brooding, a presence that clamours for/And strikes at my soul" Ma uit, dupa un inceput cam slabutz, la playlist, shi-mi spun: 20 de minute??? Imi spun si multe altele, care insa nu pot fi mentionate intr-o recenzie . Acum sa nu fiu nedreapta, ar fi fost ceva daca ar mai fi lucrat. Calitativ, nu cantitativ . - 7/10
07 Cult of Crucifixion - "I will wander/I will gather my flowers/Withered and how soon forgotten/Sing with passion/Sing with vehemence/A grief too sad for song" Bun... ma trezesc dupa eternitatea de mai devreme, si observ ca pot concentra intr-o forma mai interesanta ce au de zis. - 8/10

Deci avem: a midnight sun, o multime de legende nordice despre elfi, zane, troli si alte creaturi magice care apar in lumina acestuia, doua fete: Carmen Elise, care canta suav cu o pronuntzie stalcita dulcik, shi Brigit, care este fan death metal (bassista si in formatzia "Commander"), si obtinem o atmosfera magica shi un album care ramane mult timp sunand in urechiushe. "Where Twilight Dwells" este albumul de debut, singurul pana in prezent, un rezultat admirabil pentru inceput.

Lament - "As I stood in the shade there beside him /and as eyes turned to a paler shade of crimson /as I felt cold blood waves running down my spine /then I knew he wouldn't return" Foarte frumos contrastul dintre chitara si voce (asta e valabil pentru toate melodiile...) Pacat doar k ne-au parasit creaturile magice. - 9/10
03. Unpayable Silence - "My rose is blooming and sending her scent /to you my wanting one /my restless aura is touching you /from a hundred miles away /a silence you can't pay". Aproape vrajit de lent, plus nishte solo de chitara super - 9.5/10
04. Haunted - "Despondent /'cause I have given /signs of unthoughtful crimes /an act against my own heaven /forgive me for sins of hate" Bantuiti de consecintele alegerilor gresite... Melodic, imi aduce putin aminte de Within - 9/10
05. Desolation - "I wonder what I have done wrong /I wonder what I could have done /eyes are just staring /why can't you see /I am who I am and no one else" O melodie despre o iubire neimpartasita... Din nou, fuarte frumoase pasajele de chitara, plus ca nici o melodie nu mi se pare ca induce pesimism sau melancolie - 9.5/10
06. Enlightenment - "After a night so long /the time has come /eclipse of my past returns //A rout in the wood /releases my fright /haunted like a bird" Imi spune mai putine, puate pentru ca vocalul nu se aude foarte bine, dar are parti superbe - 8.5/10

Tarefall - "When the ice sings her lullaby /when seeds are spread /blue sky is inside /only once I sensed the spring" Superb... asta e genu de lucruri la care as sta sa ma gandesc multa vreme... oare cum o fi chestia asta, "the ice sings her lullaby"? O melodie foarte personala pentru Carmen Elise: "Sometimes you think, "Wow, now you’re doing great, this is the way to go," and then suddenly, you just fall into a black whole again." "I can't hide /surroundings of darkest light /the claws of the past /appear in every shadow /emptiness /in my veins, in my heart, in the air! /I sacrificed all /could I bare it again?" - 10/10

Diavolul m-a vizitat dupa miezul noptzii shi mi-a sugerat sa recenzez Diablo. Am crezut ca doreshte sa-mi vand sufletul in schimbul vreunui nevermind spectaculos. Nu m-am inselat decat pe jumatate... Diablo sunt ceva spectaculos. O formatie mai putin cunoscuta, ce provine din Finlanda, tzara in care shtiam ca nu e decat ice that sings her lullaby. Niste versuri care ar merge foarte bine cu o orchestra in spate shi un vocal feminin (asta k sa respect retzeta clasica ). Dar suna neasteptat shi putzin dark shi asha - 9.5/10

06. The Preacher - "Forgive me father for my sins/Forgive me for the things I have done/Hey, just look at me I know the reason/You just can't see it from that far" Suna mult, mult mai interesant, vocal cu adevarat deosebit, si ideile se potrivesc cu starea mea de spirit - 9/10
07. In Flesh - "Perfection in pleasures,/fatal flash of joy/And no-one will ever cross/this infernal love" Pe melodia asta imi amintesc k am citit pe undeva k si bateristu canta mijto, si asha e - 8.5/10

Acum doua zile cu siguranta as fi inceput recenzia spunand ca nu cred in paradis. Momentan, nu mai sunt asa de sigura
Edenbridge este o formatie subevaluata, as spune... comparata prea des Nightwish (asta e riscul cand au solista care sa fie bruneta) si mult mai putin cunoscuti sau apreciati. Dupa o prima auditie, desi nu eram extrem de impresionata, refrenul shine, shine, shine mi-a ramas extrem de intiparit in memoria auditiva. Poate pentru si ca Sabine are o voce frumoasa, foarte buna, desi mie mi se pare cam prea egala (acu am observat, invazie de sabine aici, lol ).

Move Along Home - "In this illusive game /latent worlds are waiting just for you /so won`t you join? /don`t ponder over things that might be new" Asa... deci dupa cateva zile aproape o saptamana m-am dezlipit cu greutate de Shine si am reushit sa trec mai departe . Move Along Home se deschide pe un ritm oriental, shi da senzatia de mai multa forta - 8.5/10

The Canterville Prophecy - "When a gentle girl can win /prayer from out the lips of sin /when a child gives up tears /and the barren almond bears /when the silent chapel bell /sounds the ghostly sinners knell /then shall the house be still and /peace shall come to canterville" Aici v-am pus versurile complete. In final se aude o usa si niste pasi... - 9/10
10. The Canterville Ghost - "Time stands still in canterville /for ages this curse lays upon /pass the night walking for fourhundred years /longing for this liaison" Continuarea a cele de mai sus. Cele doua melodii sunt reusite, poate era bun un intreg album epic pe tema asta. I-as dedica melodia cuiva, dar mi-e sa nu apara vreun detector de dedicatii ca am vazut efectele de-a dreptu inaltatoare - 9.5/10
11. On Scared Ground - "Downstream the river /the boat is moving on /passing fields of silence /long time gone" Bonus track pentru versiunea europeana - trupetzii fiind din Austria. - 9/10

"I took a trip inside my mind and danced with the demons inside of it... " JP Leppí¤luoto (vocal la formatia Charon) si Ville Laihiala (tot vocal, la Sentenced) au purtat deci o discutie cu diavolul din care a rezultat o noua formatie. Poisonblack e o nuanta de negru, ca shi Black no 1, ceea ce mi se pare dragutz si conplet plauzibil, negrul venind in toate tonurile shi nuantele. Oricum, ceva mai inspirat decat primul nume al formatiei, Shadowlands. N-ash spune ca Poisonblack e chiar gothic metal, e mai degraba gothic inspre love metal, sau, ca sa inventez subcategorii, erotic love metal. Desi diavolul le-a furnizat si o cantitate impresionanta de pene negre, care-i ocupau probabil nishte camere pe la nivelurile superioare, nu e suficient sa mentionezi cuvintele dark, death, pain, grave etc ca sa devii automat gothic... atat din muzica cat shi din versuri lipseste fondul de melancolic/depresiv. Totusi, Poisonblack nu cad in penibilul conatzionalilor lor lovemetalishti atat de apreciatzi pe alte threaduri, probabil se iau mai putzin in serios, sau fac o pirueta in ultimul moment, shi se salveaza... ba mai mult, sunt placut ascultabili in special datorita vocii interesante a lui JP, putzin spre vocalul Type O Negative. In rest, Poisonblack mi-a inspirat de la inceput ideea de jucarie sofisticata (in sensul strict ludic ), poate shi pentru k sunt un side-project. Trupa are in proiect un album care va fi lansat in noiembrie anul acesta.

"Diabolical rapture" ie un clisheu... very clisheu. Merge, raman neimpresionata la versuri shi ushor incantata de atmosfera - 8/10

Dupa ce am terminat cu gothic pisi anterior, mi-am zis k trebuie sa aflu mai multe despre aceshti Sentenced, care ishi aveau oricum un loc in planurile mele metalice de viitor. Primul pas a fost sa accesez site-ul oficial, care ma indemna sa intru in mormant. De pe pagina din deschidere, patru dintre trupetzi jeleau langa un sicriu deschis, din care al cincilea, vocalu, le trimitea pupici din varf de degete. Mijto, mi-am spus. Au atitudine . Din pacate, am aflat k "The Funeral Album" este albumul care incheie activitatea formatziei... Sentenced s-au infiintzat in 1989 shi la inceputuri cantau death metal. Pe parcurs, trupa si-a schimbat stilul si a scos albume, unele melodii avand ca tema moartea/sinuciderea. De data asta, Sentenced s-au sinucis muzicalmente, printr-un album de sfarshit de cariera care cu sigurantza va ramane in aminitirea fanilor shi nu numai. Desigur, k sa fiu transhanta, Poisonblack nu e shi nici nu da semne ca o sa fie o trupa de acelashi calibru... Deci, in loc de eternul meu "un excelent album de debut"... "un excelent album de final"

Ever-Frost - "The accusations and the blame /True or false, they seem the same /Filthy fingers, rising rose /And out of shit a flower grows /I'm amazed how damn low /people can go only by being themselves" Prima melodie pe care am ascultat-o (de fapt, am luat videoclipul de pe site). Multimea din sala scandeaza numele trupei si ajunge sa arunce cu diverse in organizator, pentru k nu apar pe scena... trupetzii, imbracatzi in costume, cara un sicriu in care se afla Ea, formatzia . Dupa ce o plimba prin tuate tzinuturile nordice, prin paduri si cu barcutza pe apa, o ingruapa over the hills. Intre timp, doua barmanitze ajung sa se paruiasca (o posibila aluzie la disesiuni in interiorul formatziei, sau pur shi simplu catfight, copirait cuiva). O exprimare foarte deschisa, versuri, despre ipocrizie ash zice, care m-au impresionat... shi k n-au ales s-o promoveze degeaba. Probabil o voi asculta non-stop pana intr-un viitor indepartat, pe care nu-l pot distinge - 10/10

Dupa ce l-am achizitzionat la un concert magic, l-am ascultat oricand am putut, inclusiv in metrou, in drum spre servici si in alte peisaje urbane, shi i-am ratacit coperta de dvd, care momentan se afla undeva pe taramu lucrurilor pierdute din casa mea, e timpu sa vb despre ultimul album al formatiei Telurica, "Discordant Harmony"

Telurica este side-projectul basistului formatziei Magica, Inger Alb, care abordeaza un stil electronic experimental. "Discordant Harmony" este cel de-al treilea album (dupa "anthems of desolation" shi "the calling of the battlehorn"). Albumul beneficiaza de o prezentare deosebita, in coperta de dvd, shi cu grafica copertii realizata de Costin Chioreanu (Twilight Media).

Enslavement of Beauty s-a infiintzat in 1995 shi in componentza permanenta a formatziei se afla doar cei doi membri antementzionatzi. Trupa a inregistrat un demo intitulat "Devilry & Temptation" in 1998, urmat, la scurt timp, de albumul "Traces O' Red" (1999), shi apoi subiectul acestei recenzii, "Megalomania". La albume sau in turnee au mai colaborat divershi care s-au perindat shi in formatzii precum Dimmu Borgir,Gaia Epicus, Testament etc. In rest, scuzatzi penuria de informatzii dar site-ul oficial se pare k nu merge shi nici germana n-am invatzat ink .

Nu-s o fana a genului black metal, crek pot numara pe degetele de la o mana trupele de black ascultate, dar Enslavement sunt o exceptzie... versuri extraordinare, ce imbina erotismul, decadentza, cu o ushoara nota de pesimism, vocea foarte placuta shi ascultabila pentru o voce de black, melodiile inspre un stil melodic / symphony, plus un ceva destul de greu de definit care mi-a inspirat multa admiratzie.

Autumn provine din Olanda, shi canta gothic metal, ceea ce deschide foarte ushor calea catre comparatzii cu trupe precum Epica sau Within Temptation. Totushi, vocea lui Nienke este departe de vocalistele clasice, gen simfonic; de asemenea, sau puate tocmai k sa se diferentzieze, am admirat zeci de poze din concerte cu ea adoptand un stil avrillavrinic, cu cravate colorate. Albumul "Summer's End" urmeaza unui EP, "Samhain", shi albumului "When Lust Evokes the Curse". Un alt aspect original shi care m-a impresionat placut este abordarea unor teme legate oarecum de credintzele wiccane - asta era singurul domeniu de interes care-mi lipsea k sa ma incadrez intr-un clisheu gothic perfect, dar am remediat problema . Samhain este una din noptile spiritelor, si marcheaza sfarshitul anului wiccan. Un coven, este o adunare de vrajitoare. Shi altele. De altfel, albumul imi pare k urmeaza o linie tematica, un fir al unei povesti despre o trecere ritualica - poate, de la vara la toamna .

01. The Coven (The Witch In Me Part II) - Asa cum spuneam, un coven e un grup de vrajitoare care se intalnesc pentru a practica anumite ritualuri. Melodia este part II pentru k continua pe cea de pe albumul anterior. "The grating noise of horned owl emphasises the dark/My only beacon in oblivion/Now when I'm one with this mystic web/Wherein dimensions bled to one". Senzatzia de invocare e indusa doar de timbrul vocal special al lui Nienke, instrumental fiind mult mai alerta, cu un intro interesant de tobe - 9/10

Gallery Of Reality - "There, between the exhibited bodies/Framed by frozen blood/Her skin scabrous, once so soft/That must be the one, the one I once loved" Singura remarca pe care ash aduce-o este k intre vara shi toamna nu are ce cauta iarna; altfel, un inceput lent, ce induce o stare de nelinishte, urmat de un tempo mai alert - 8.5/10
04. Silent Madness - "A silent madness grabs me/When I fall in love with shades/Hoping they will dispose me/But they guide me trough my Hades" Foarte frumos, vocea lui Nienke devenind de-a dreptul obsesiva - 9.5/10
05. Vision Red - "My eyes slowly close/The light shimmers away/It's the beginning of the journey/Myriads of roads for my sins to pave" Desi lirica e destul de incalcita, melodia suna printre cel mai bine de pe album, shi apare shi un cor - 9.5/10
06. Lifeline - "As the spinning wheel of life decides each fate/And leads life lines to its spools/Where they are beginning to have their downfall created" Reluam tema fatalista, e vorba shi de unele obiecte magice folosite pentru crerea unei alte lumi - 8/10

This Night - "Here I stand in the circle/So quiet and bland/Delegate of the great Goddess/Seducing the pain,/My flesh demands" Versuri erotice, care ma fac sa cred k donshuara solisa e atrasa mai degraba de aripa dianica a vrajitoriei (k sa nu zambesc numai eu la aluzia asta, va spun k dianicele sunt vrajitoarele lesbi) - 8.5/10
08. The Green Angel - "The battle cries inside his head fade away/I sink deeper - return home to me/I grow weaker - You are mine/I gave you blood - and you made it die" Un duet muzical interesant la aparitzia backingului vocal masculin, care de asemenea are o voce deosebita - 9/10

Summer's End - "Gathering the treasures of fields, forbidden fruit/With a tangible visions inside/Consuming the dreamscapes/Burst trough your fragile shields/Take you for a ride" De asemenea, cu nimik care sa se distinga (de asta n-am comentat-o nici pe cea dinainte), prea liniare shi previzibile, cu aceeashi linie melodica repetitiva - aici, un pasaj prelucrat, distorsionat, al vocalistei - 8.5/10
11. Solar Wake - "I follow the sun from a distance/I pass the shadows to my left/find my strength in the solar wake///running up for the light/find it caught up by the dark/fight for hope/find it beaten by fate" O melodie lenta, care incheie albumul ushor melancolic.

Totushi, in urma neintzelegerilor legate faptul k Adam vroia sa o domine (in viatza de zi cu zi; sau doar in pat, potrivit unei alte versiuni in care Adam, lipsit de imaginatzie, prefera pozitzia clasica), aceasta, invocand numele Domnului, se ridica literalmente in aer shi-l paraseshte pe Adam, zburand spre Marea Roshie, in peshterile locuite de demoni, shi devenind iubita acestora, mama unor noi demoni. Conform aceleiashi traditzii ebraice, ea este mama demonilor incubus/sucubus, shi un sucubus ea insashi. Trei ingeri sunt trimishi s-o aduca inapoi, dar ea refuza - drept pedeapsa, ii sunt omoratzi cate 100 de copii-demoni zilnic, iar Lillith devine ea insashi o ucigasha de copii, un pericol pentru baietzii pana la varsta de 8 ani shi pentru fetele de pana in 20 de ani, care trebuiau sa poarte o amuleta protectiva. Lillith este un simbol al femeii independente / malefice - 9/10 (pentru melodie )

08.Danse Vampyr - "Oh, night of beauty, love and cruelty/Twisting, writhing bodies guiding/Love of splendour, kisses tender" Danse Vampyr este o melodie foarte frumoasa, lenta, dark, cu viori - poate motivul personal pentru cae recenzez acest album. In ceea ce-i priveshte pe vampiri, sunt adesea asociatzi cu demonii incubus, deshi sunt doua creaturi total diferite (un incubus nu se hraneshte cu sange) - 10/10
09.Vampyre Erotica - "I'll laugh at your torment/I'll have you, and own you/Be hard and cold to you/I'll be your dark angel/I'll be your worst nightmare" O melodie de la care ma ashteptam la altceva, destul de ritmata - 9/10
10.Wild Hunt - "In darkest green you move now/With oak and ash and thorn now/The cloak that's swathed around you/Denies I've finally found you" - 8/10
11.Sweet Morpheus - "Falling downward, your face I see/Falling downward, you can see me/In this madness I reach out for your hand/Two souls in union, spiralling to the ground" Iarashi, o mel care m-a impresionat, in acelashi stil cu Danse Vampyr - 9.5/10

Am primit albumul acesta cadou, ashezat pe un cd impreuna cu multe altele. Am ajuns la el in timp ce exploram dintr-unul in altul, cand aud nishte tzipete k izvorand direct din infern, moment in care am oprit muzik shi mi-am dat jos cashtile de pe urechi in timp record. N-ash fi revenit curand la Sui Generis Umbra daca nishte oameni de bine (sau mai precis o fata de bine) nu i-ar fi ascultat intre timp shi nu mi i-ar fi re-recomandat cu incredere.

Sui Generis Umbra este o expresie in latina, unde umbra inseamna fantoma, iar sui generis, original, diferit de orice altceva. Particula care marcheaza originalitatea a fost adaugata dupa festival la care trupa a remarcat k mai exista o alta cu acelashi nume, Umbra. Cei doi membri, eLL si Maciej, au activat anterior in alte formatii: eLL, in trupa de death noise industrial D.ZONE, iar maciej, in trupa gothica ARTROSIS. Discografia lor cuprinde trei albume, "Ater" (1999), "Coma" (2002) shi "Amok" (2004), "Coma" fiind albumul prin care s-au facut remarcatzi la un nivel mai extins.

"Coma" e ca shi cum ai asculta coloana sonora a unui film horror sau e un horror in sine, pentru k vocea lui eLL este incredibila, cu nishte inflexiuni, tzipete, treceri de la un ton ascutzit la unul ragushit de-a dreptul uluitoare. Este genul de muzik pe care te-ai evoca un ev mediu apasator, foarte intunecata dar shi extrem de complexa, deshi este sustzinuta doar de vocal shi electronic, fara a fi folosite instrumente clasice.

Versurile sunt partzial in latina, partzial in engleza, deshi trupa este de origine poloneza, shi am intzeles dintr-un review k semnifica invocatzii folosite in ritualuri vrajitoreshti, ambii membri fiind interesatzi de acest subiect. Din pacate, oricat le-am cautat nu am reushit sa le gasesc, de aceea am renuntzat sa scriu precum inainte shi ma multzumesc sa spun k
melodiile care mi-au atras atentzia in mod deosebit sunt executrix, getorix shi alee. Atashez doo sampleuri spre exemplificare mai vie, care mi-au fost sampluite de aceeashi fata de bine

Dupa Sui Generis, un alt duo: Statik shi kaRIN sunt principalii componentzi ai formatziei Collide, un mix de electronic shi gothic-dark. Piesa de rezistentza o reprezinta vocea lui kaRIN, care este descrisa cel mai des shi mai potrivit ca fiind sexi, exotica shi seducatoare. Deshi mai putzin cunoscutzi publicului larg, atat kaRin cat shi statik sunt muzicieni de marca, implicandu-se in colaborari cu formatzii precum: Tool, Skinny Puppy, Frontline Assembly, Plateau shi altele; de altfel, la acest album au contribuit cEvin Key de la Skinny Puppy shi Danny Carey de la Tool, la melodiile "Euphoria" shi "Somewhere". Discografia formatiei mai cuprinde albumele "Beneath the Skin", "Distort", "Chasing the Ghost", "Vortex", precum shi un dvd intitulat "Like the Hunted", care contzine printre altele o aparitzie live in El Rey.

01. crushed - "and all your satelights/are fragments here/i feel a little crushed/and out of control/and all your gravity/it's meant to bring you down/makes me feel so crushed/and out of control" crushed este un intro ce debuteaza cu cateva vocalize senzuale shi se continua intr-un tempo bine punctat de "momentele" electronice - 9/10
02. euphoria - "i calibrate you/could get lost/along the way/i confiscate you/while i find the meaning/i feel i could not escape you" sau unde ishi fac aparitzia shi niscaiva chitari electrice - 9/10
03. modify - " can't stop thinking/that's all that matters/eventually/can't stop feeling/and re-arranging/that’s all i'm thinking/modify as i levitate" ceea ce imi place la versuri este repetarea-rearanjarea in diverse combinatzii a unor cuvinte simple, de parca ar vrea sa le gaseasca sensul cel mai potrivit - 8.5/10
04. somewhere - " somewhere/beyond the surface/vibrant shades/somewhere/beyond the threshold/life unfolds/peeling back the layers" un refren care-mi evoca vizual o explozie de veselie shi de soare - 9/10
05. slither thing - " slithering/slither thing/you're sweet/slithering/slither thing/melt within/multi colour fragmented" un amestec de slow dance shi pasaje stil jazz - 8.5/10
06. inside - "inside your head/i'd stroll around in synthesis/and i'd find a way/to connect all things/to search and roam around/take you far away/to search and roam around/take you to another place" o balada electronica- 9.5/10
07. mutation - " tell me i just couldn't be/ever felt someone else/feeling some kind of sanctuary/losing the password to someone" unde reapare o chitara shi se stinge in shipotul ploii - 9/10
08. tempted - " the surface is transparent/stranger here in me/filter through like sun/future i am past/though your hunger feels the same/i am wanting give me breath/i am truth you can't explain/i am treasure i am dust/i am water i am rain/i am tempted here" tempted se distinge clar, este una din melodiile care mi-au atras atentzia de la inceput shi din punctul meu subiectiv de vedere, o mica capodopera - 10/10
09. shimmer - " shimmer shimmer between us/like we were flying/colours seem so much brighter/than they did before/if i stumble you'll catch me" din nou o melodie mai lenta cu un inceput foarte interesant - 8.5/10
10. complicated - " your words/and you're very complicated/dream i'm addicted to you/whatever/put you back where you belong
dream/and your very misleading" o melodie mai dark care dintr-un motiv sau altul de asemenea mi-a atras foarte mult atentzia in mod placut - 10/10
11. so long - "so long/why does it take so long/what if i wait for you/am i the only one/so long what did it mean/turn around here and/see if it breaks in two/am i the only one" incheiem in acelashi stil lent-seducator, cu un 9.5/10
